(Not) Getting Married Today - Madeline Kahn - Company

In honor of Valentine’s Day and Single Awareness Day, the delightful Madeline Kahn…

“Listen, everybody, look, I don’t know what you’re waiting for, a wedding, what’s a wedding, it’s a prehistoric ritual where everybody promises fidelity forever, which is maybe the most horrifying word I ever heard of, which is followed by a honeymoon, where suddenly he’ll realize he’s saddled with a nut, and wanna kill me, which he should…”

Raúl Esparza - “Being Alive”

Raúl Esparza sings “Being Alive” from the John Doyle directed revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company (2006) at the 2006 Tony Awards. I personally felt that he gave a fantastic performance of one of my all time favorite songs. He is so overcome with emotion but belts like no other. This man is a true gem. I’ve seen him in various performances and he blows me away each and every time.

Coincidentally, Raúl has been cast as the leading man, the mysterious J. Bowden Hapgood, in the coming City Center Encores! production of the Sondheim musical Anyone Can Whistle.

He will play opposite the previously announced Sutton Foster in the revival, which will also star Donna Murphy as the corrupt mayor of a financially bankrupt town.

Very much looking forward to that! The Encores! revival is scheduled to have five performances April 8 to 11. So get your tickets now!

The Shazzamity

Shazzamity in a nut shell. Pigeon posts are often found here. It's a love/hate thing. As well your typical commentary on the contributions our society makes to music, fashion, film, and television. It's pomp and circumstance, y'all! The shazzamity starts here. I'll even punch that pigeon in the face if I have to. (Please note: No actual pigeons were harmed in the making of this blog.)
