Thousands of travelers trying to get home after the holiday weekend sat bored and bleary-eyed in airports and shivered aboard stuck buses and subway trains Monday, stranded by a blizzard that slammed the Northeast with more than 2 feet of show.
The storm closed all three of the New York metropolitan area’s airports. Buses sputtered to a halt in snow drifts. Trains stopped in their tracks. Taxi drivers abandoned their cabs in the middle of New York’s snow-clogged streets. Even the New York City subway system – usually dependable during a snowstorm – broke down in spots, trapping riders for hours.

“Oscar buzz rarely surprises: Inevitably, the nominees are Hollywood stars in upper-middlebrow prestige pictures, with a couple of British stage actors thrown in to class up the joint. And as a result, many great-but-unconventional performances are overlooked, and this year there seem to be more than ever, from a tween action-movie heroine to an underrated character actress to a pair of A-listers who gambled on oddball (or downright bizarre) projects.

Milosh - Falling Away
“You’re not in love with me / I’m in love with you / You barely even noticed / What’s good about me”
Michael Milosh, known professionally as Milosh, is a Canadian electronic musician. As well as being an electronic musician, he is a classically trained cellist starting from age three, as well as a jazz aficionado. He describes himself as wanting to make music that moves its listeners, whether it be “good, bad or sad.”
“Falling Away” taken from his second album Meme (2006) is so elusively beautiful with its rising piano chords, and jazz-toned vocals fraying into electronic bliss. The singing is airy and delicate while at the same time gritty and soulful.
Throughout the piece you feel like you are moving underwater enveloped by sonic tones, but anchored by the real loveliness of Milosh’s voice as he sings:
“So I’ll keep on swimming my way / Through that pitch black part of me / Singing this tongue tied and twisted melody / There you go falling into that sea of people”
If you haven’t heard the album, you can listen to its entirety here.
It’s a soft electronic album that gradually lifts you up and away. Milosh’s voice is subtle and is finely supported by the beautiful undulating grooves.

“Let’s uncork a bottle of champagne in the face of the Golden Globes, the Kathie Lee Gifford of awards shows. What other trophy trolley would lurch between a high-falutin British period piece starring Colin Firth as a stuttering King George VI and a Lifetime movie featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt as a Texas beauty queen who selflessly turns to prostitution to support her family?”

And The Nominees Are…
In the first major awards season announcement of 2010, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association revealed its nominations for the 68th annual Golden Globes Tuesday morning (December 14), confirming the status of certain cinematic front-runners, damaging the hopes of other films and bringing a few movies attention few expected. The TV categories were entirely more predictable, with “Glee” once again notching the highest number of nominations (five, up from four last year), trailed, like last year, by “30 Rock,” “Mad Men” and other shows.
The big surprise in the Best Motion Picture — Drama category was that “True Grit,” the Coen brothers highly praised new Western, DID NOT land a nod in the category. In fact, it didn’t nab a single nomination. “127 Hours,” the true story of a trapped hiker starring James Franco, DIDN’T gain a much expected best picture nomination EITHER. Instead, Mark Wahlberg’s “The Fighter” snuck in, joining other nominees “The King’s Speech,” “The Social Network,” “Black Swan” and “Inception.”
Take a look a the full nominees list here.
